School Family Education

sfe01

The Schools Family Education (SFE) is a programme initiated by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS). It is a holistic family learning model – equipping parents with effective parenting skills and training them to be parents, facilitators, helping school staff to enhance their family life, and providing students with life skills training.

This programme involves:

  • The setting up of a Family Life Centre which is a cosy place within the school premises where parents can network and share on family matters and form support groups with other parents. What’s more, you and your children can also read up on or review parenting and family materials at the centre.
  • The organization of Family Life Education Programmes which are specially tailored to cater to the needs of parents, school staff and students. Some examples of programmes for parents include “Effective Communication with Your children”, “Balancing Work and Family”, “Financial Management” etc.

Target Audience

Secondary schools that have not embarked on this programme yet and thus are still eligible to a 3-year financial grant from MCYS.
